Steve brings 40+ years of experience in commercial banking (with extensive commercial lending to include commercial real estate, SBA, and asset-based lending), and real estate asset management. He started his banking career with First Interstate Bank (formerly United California Bank-UCB) where he received comprehensive credit analysis training. This training was put to use in all types of lending to include: SBA lending, asset-based lending, equipment and commercial real estate lending to include construction lending. After First Interstate Bank, Steve transitioned into Community banking and took the position of Chief Credit Officer for First California Bank in La Mesa, CA where he was responsible for overseeing a $112million loan portfolio. He organized and supervised a new SBA loan department which produced $11 million on new loans over a 12-month period. After 6 years in this position Steve left banking and began consulting for large (Big 6) CPA firms that had contracts with the RTC to provide valuations for Savings and Loan non-performing loan portfolios. In 1995 Steve then became active in managing non-performing commercial real estate loan portfolios and real estate assets for AMRESCO. In 1999 Steve joined ConAm Management Corp. as a Real Estate Investment Manager managing 21 multifamily properties throughout the US. In 2006, Steve returned to banking as a Senior Private Banker with the Wells Fargo Private Bank in San Diego assuming a $65 million commercial loan portfolio that grew to over $100 million. In 2008 Steve accepted the position of Loan Team Manager for the Wells Fargo Private Bank in San Diego. As the Loan Team Manager, he was responsible for overseeing an $800 million loan portfolio and six commercial loan underwriters. Steve has extensive experience in small to medium size business lending to include active engagement with business owners and companies’ senior management. In 2016, Steve retired from Wells Fargo Bank and joined Junction Peak (formerly CFO Performance Group, LLC) where he helped small business owners understand and improve their financial performance so they can make better strategic financial decisions that would increase revenue growth, profits and more importantly the value of their business. In 2018, Steve joined AARE.
